As I was going through a file where I keep all my cards and notes yesterday, I came across all the notes written by my friends along with the cards I received for my birthday & Christmas over the years. It is as if I have found treasure. All I have to say is that reading the notes that were given by my friends made me feel rather appreciated and as the title of this post says, cherished. Honestly, you wouldn't know how much a person cares or feels about you until you receive such short notes and how it can make your day.
These short notes or other words, letters was a part of an activity that we had to do when we were in form 1 in conjunction with some Moral talk we had to attend back then. Yea, it goes a long way back. In that activity, each of us were given a sheet of A4 paper in which we had to fold and divide the A4 paper into four. Then, we had to write a small note to four different friends. Looking back at it yesterday, I was fairly surprised as I managed to get quite a few notes from different friends while I can only give notes to four friends. Imagine the guilt I must have felt back then where I was given a note by a friend but I didn't have anything to give back to them. Nonetheless, I truly cherish each one of my friends. Well, you don't need to be giving out notes to show that you appreciate a friend right. There are so many other ways to show one's gratitude. On the other hand, although the contents of the notes may seem childish and embarrassing when we read it now, it surely did have some impact on my life back then and even now.
Another occassion was during my Moral class last two years. We were studying about some moral value which I seem to have forgotten. In that activity, the teacher asked to name someone who would be a model for the class in which they would write something positive and negative. Being the class monitor back then, it is of no doubt that they named me. Mind you, I was filled with mixed feelings back then. Lol. So they were given time to pen it down while I stand idiotically in front. After they were done, I collected the small written notes or more precisely, their thoughts or comments about my positive and negative side and was asked to read them out one by one. Dear Lord. Lol. Nonetheless, I was pretty overwhelmed by their comments and what they thought about me. Pretty surprised at their positive comments. However, nothing is more surprising about what they thought was negative about me. The usual comments about me being TOO loud and that I talk TOO much. Lol. Same ol' same ol'. Although it is hard to differentiate if what they say about me is true or not in this activity, it didn't matter cause even if they weren't being honest, they weren't being honest to themselves too.
Not forgetting all the birthday cards that I received too. The things that you guys write are simply amazing. Seriously. Lol.
The point of me blogging about this is simply to share about how it feels like to be loved and treasured by one. Or even to be thought of by someone. Everyone needs to feel cared for in any circumstance. One simple act means a thousand words. And though it is something simple that you are doing to show a person that you care for them, it is the heart that counts. So, show your gratitude to a friend the next time you see them. A simple hug to start off with, perhaps? Trust me, it'll make their day. :)
And before I end, I want to dedicate this post to all your awesome friends of mine out there whom I cherish and love for. Near or far. Best friends or acquaintance. Close or otherwise.
PS. If a fire ever breaks out, I'd somewhat use my life to save that file.
Omg omg omg I still have all those notes from form 1 too! I thought only I still kept them, lol. >_<
