Promises.

Pinky promise.

A promise. That is what all of us do at one point in our lives. Giving someone our word. But just reflecting back, I realise that it is more often used when we were younger. Especially when we want someone to tell us something like a secret that is hidden deep down within them. It is just natural to say, "Tell me lah. Don't worry I won't tell anybody. I promise." And somehow, we end up telling another person and the word goes on and on. How immature of us. Back then, we didn't realise that karma can be a real pain in the butt. Lol.

However, as I grow older, I tend to realise the importance of keeping a promise. I believe that a promise made is really meant to be kept. A promise should not simply be made if it cannot be kept. It will only disappoint the other party if they find out that the word we've given them is broken. And the sense of trust will be lost. Without realising it, there will be trust issues between the two parties then. Trust takes years to build but only a millisecond to destroy it.

This is just a food for thought. We wouldn't like it when we entrust someone with something but end up finding out that it is spreading around don't we? So yea. :) All in all, only make promises if it can be fulfilled and really mean it when you say it.
